Part music festival, part rock n roll street party the 5th annual Cherry Rock was put on by the good folk at Cherry Bar. It was held in AC/DC Lane, Melbourne on 1 May 2011 and featured some sensational acts, none better than the sublime show put on by Died Pretty who reformed especially for Cherry Rock, other acts were Barrence Whitfield, SixFtHick, Electric Mary, Jesse Hughes, Stonefield, The Dave Larkin Band, Spencer P Jones and The Escape Committee and Attack of the Mannequins. A most excellent day of rock n roll!

For the third year running I had the privilege of being the official photographer for the best little music festival in Australia, the Boogie Festival, held over Easter at Bruzzy’s Farm just outside the small Victorian town of Tallarook. This year the line-up performing was massive with international acts Caitlin Rose, The Fellice Brothers and swamp blues/rock legend Tony Joe White gracing the stage along with some of the best Australian musical acts going around including You Am I (performing under the moniker Rogers, Kent, Hopkinson and Lane), Graveyard Train, Even, Barbarion, Stonefield, The Immigrant Union, Chris Altmann, Dan Kelly, The Laurels, Money For Rope and many more.

However, it’s not just about the music at Boogie, there was a wedding on stage, the annual Box Wars mayhem, a trash parade, excellent food and most of all wonderful people gathered for one hell of a party in a sensational setting.

Here’s a few photos from the weekend – click on any of the pictures below to see the full set from Boogie5.

Yesterday the biggest and baddest lineup of metal, punk and heavy music ever assembled in Australia arrived at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds in the form of the Soundwave Festival – what a day! When you have acts the calibre of Iron Maiden, Slayer, Queens of the Stoneage, Gang of Four, Slash, The Bronx, Primus, Melvins and another 60 or so acts you know it’s going to be something epic and it was! Well done by the organisers!
